In this movie portraying the character of Rathnavel, belonging to the dominant community, especially among the Gounders and Thevars (dominant caste groups in Tamilnadu). His brilliant performance has been appreciated by fans and critics alike. But consequences of his character has impact on youth with caste Pride.

Tamil cinema fans usually appreciate their favourite characters from movies by editing short video clips with mass background music to express their love towards the actor. While it is rare for antagonists to receive the same kind of recognition. But the character Rathnavel from maamannan, has celebrated by dominant caste groups on social media. They are asserting their caste Pride by sharing them widely on social media. Despite of his caste location being not clear in the movie, Gounder and Thevar meme pages have been quick to appropriate him by either claiming him as Rathnavel Gounder or Rathnavel Pandian.

 It is sad to think that people are celebrating his caste as well as celebrating his performance in this movie. Director Mari Selvaraj always stands for a ideology that abolish of caste. He made this film to abolish caste. But it is surprising that this film reached people, contrary to what he thought. 

                 "Celebrate the actors, 

              celebrate the performance,

         but don't celebrate the character".
